Project Overview
It is a Grade A office building (LEED GOLD) with 11 floors and 6 levels of parking. The total BUA was approximately 1.3 million sq. ft. Long span structure with the demand of high clear headroom in habitable area. It had long overall dimension and expansion issues. The cantilever span was huge (Approx 5m). We proposed a flat PT slab connected to the band beam only at one edge to give high clear headroom. We avoided the expansion joint and did a temperature analysis. For the cantilever, we did a long-term deflection check and tapered the RCC section.
Challenges
Floor-to-floor height of 3.5M with a clear floor-to-ceiling depth of 3.05m was required. Few numbers of columns are to be provided, to increase floor plate efficiency. The architectural intent had the access ramp for the podium parking passing over the Diesel generator room.
Solution
Central core with periphery columns. Column-to-column spacing of 11m. Core-to-column spacing of 11m and cantilever projection of 4m. PT wide beams are provided with a max depth of 450mm. Central circulation & lobby converted into the core to control torsion. The DG room slab was lowered so as to have sufficient space for installing and maintaining the DG sets. Louvres were added under the ramp to provide sufficient area for air intake.
