Island House

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Project Overview

An Iconic standalone private residential resort project on a 12,000 sqm private Island, artificially built off Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE comprising multiple residential units supported by various functional and recreational spaces.

Challenges

The island was located around a kilometer in the sea off Abudhabi. The cost of taking utility connections to the island via undersea lines is very high. The client wanted the minimum of MEP plant rooms to be visible.

Solution

The hybrid structural framing system was adopted for ease of construction. All of the MEP services are standalone and self-contained on the island. The island can easily function and sustain itself for a week with the supplies stored on the island. Most of the MEP plant rooms were concealed underground with ventilation shafts concealed in the landscape.
